about

NOTE: Due to delays around COVID-19 the lathe cuts will not be available on release day, but will be shipped out as soon as possible afterwards.

This world is a very strange place to live. The ice caps are melting, openly corrupt politicians line their pockets, societies look to blame everyone except themselves, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer whilst a global pandemic sweeps through every nation like a plague of locust looking for it’s next meal. Historically speaking, remarkably nothing has really changed, what has changed is how we consume the information. Social media now rules the once carefully curated channels of communication, allowing lies and truths to overload our senses and our once rational thoughts. Nostalgia is the only comfort, looking back to when we believed things to be simpler. But were they really?

These are all themes explored on the latest extended play offering from enigmatic lo-fi death-punks, Meadow Burials. ‘The Modern Age’ is a stripped back rock n’ roll rager of 3 tracks in 2 and a half minutes. This time recorded with a ‘real’ band in a ‘real’ studio, Meadow Burials took just 4 hours to partially write and fully record this social commentary at Axe and Trap Studios in Wells, UK. Founding member, Nick Wiltone (vocals and guitar), better known as the vocalist and bass player for punk duo, Ghost Of The Avalanche, enlisted Paul Fosbury (bass) and Ben Turner (drums, production) to flesh out the signature sound developed on last years ‘Preface’ demo into something more urgent and organic. Channeling the likes of early Black Flag, The Misfits, The Bronx, Crass, Ramones, Bad Breeding and Raspberry Bulbs, Meadow Burials have managed to nod at their influences but never replicate, making this particular release feel both familiar yet startlingly fresh for these times.
